Study on the simple anesthesia apparatus with Ruben-Ambu Resuscitator

Abstract
The author designed simple type of anesthesia apparatus, and has had many experiences with it since 1964. This apparatus is modified by the useful Oxford E. M. O. Inhaler which had been developed at Nufield Department of Anesthetics in England. This simple apparatus is assembled with RubenAmbu Resuscitator and Heid brink No. 8 type of ether vaporizer.
The device is very convenient and valuable in the view point of simple and portable as well as possessing all the conditions of ordinary anesthesia apparatus. It is also available with ether and room air instead of oxygen.
It can be used for anesthesia the both of newborn baby and adult patient up to about 3 hours operation. The author has discribed the functional datas and principles of the device compared with the ordinary close circle type of apparatus. The above mentioned device has a little higher resistance than the close circle type of apparatus. It is, however, within the normal limit of resistance for the adult. For the newborn baby or child, the device could be used with assisting respiration during anesthesia even for the adult used muscle relaxant when availed with the close circle type of apparatus such as having lower resistance.
The author evaluates the humidity and oxygen concentration during anesthesia on useing the device with room air. The device also gets good results with Azeotropic Mixture in practice.
